Brilliant photography from American racing in the 1920s. Provided by the family of Paul Sheedy, who was an AAA official during that era. Sheedy was born & raised in Altoona, PA. There are a few years during and immediately after WWI where family records are unclear concerning what he was doing (though apparently he was married & divorced in that time, which may account for the silence about those years!). Sheedy made his way out to Los Angeles and spent the rest of his life there with his second wife. After these few years as a race official, he became a reporter and then passed the CA bar & was a lawyer for the rest of his career. He had been in law school right before WWI, so he really just took a 20-yr detour in that career path.
