Bennett Hill 1926

This image shows driver Bennett Hill in a front-wheel driver Miller at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1926. Hill was a veteran of eight Indianapolis 500s, with a best finish of eighth in 1921.
 
I have seen references to Hill's first name as, "Benny," but not "Bennie." I can only speculate about what is meant by the margin note, "The expert? crap shooter."
