Wade Morton, Indianapolis 500 Veteran

Indianapolis 500 veteran Wade Morton can be seen here (looking at the camera) at the Charlotte Speedway board track in November 1926. Morton competed in three "500s" in the 1920s with a best finish of tenth in 1923. Obviously, Morton is sitting at the flag stand across from the pit area, where the stalls of drivers are visible - especially noteworthy is the sign for 1925 Indianapolis 500 champion Peter DePaolo. This rare snapshot is presented here thanks to the Paul Sheedy Collection.
