Oldfield & Runyon

Celebrities and auto racing have alway found a nexus. Here we say the sport's first super star, Barney Oldfield, with journalist/author giant Damon Runyon at the Charlotte Speedway board track. Oldfield had retired several years earlier in 1919. The Charlotte track was constructed in 1924.
