Image of The Week
Our best information has it that this is an image of Altoona board track timing & scoring. The man you see at the Warner electric timer is reportedly Captain Lavelle. The date is most likely September 1, 1924. You can see the electric timer in front of Lavelle. Also, please notice the "candlestick" phone on the desk with timer. Please respect that this was leading edge technology transmitting information at the speed of electricity - 186,000 miles per second.
Thanks to the Paul Sheedy Collection for this photo.
