Image of The Week
A contributor to First Super Speedway who prefers to remain anonymous supplied this image of what he believes to be 1912 Indianapolis 500 Mile Race Winner Joe Dawson in the #28 Marmon at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia back in 1910. A hand-written note on the back of the photo identifies the driver, car, location and date. Dawson did race a #28 Marmon in the Fairmount event. It was in Division 3C, for engines of 231 to 300 cubic inches. This was one of five classes competing, the second smallest. Dawson did not fair well, exiting the contest on the 12th of 25 laps with a broken axle.
