Image of The Week
In this contribution from Larry Snyder, the grandson of Joe's brother Charles, we can see two pictures of 1912 Indianapolis 500 winner Joe Dawson during a 1933 visit to brother Charles and his family in Minneapolis. Photo on left shows Charles' children Chuck, Jean and Emily with their father Charles and Joe. Photo on right is of shows Charles, father Chase and Joe. As a note, Joe Dawson was married twice but never had children.
Charles obviously was more prolific. He married Perle Lillian Turney (born in Lafayette, Indiana on August 14, 1891, died July 8, 1969 in Chico, California) and they had three children as mentioned above. Jean was the mother of Larry Snyder who has contributed these images to First Super Speedway.
Check out my article about this great auto racing champion Joseph Crooke Dawson - a man about which too little has been recorded.
