Arthur Rayner Pardington was a true pioneer of auto racing. Not a competitor but an official the led the American Automobile Association's early auto racing governance team, organized the first Vanderbilt Cup, led the Long Island Motor Parkway project, the Lincoln Highway across the United States and served as the first referee of the Indianapolis 500. It's no surprise I suppose to hear he was a workaholic he basically pressured himself to an early grave passing away at age 54.

Did you know what engineer designed the Indianapolis Motor Speedway? Does the name Park Taliaferro Andrews ring a bell? How about the first competitor who was injured on the track? Ever hear of Officer Gibney? If you love IMS history these are interesting names to know.

I am so pleased to share that Hemmings Motor News reviewed First Super Speedway in its September issue. Bestowing a four star rating on FSS, its usability and content, Hemmings reports, "There's enough here to read about racing and motoring, bringing the ancients to life, to keep you intrigued for a very long time."

Check out the attachment below for a PDF of page 18 where the review was published.
