This article is very small but it does flag that the original chief engineer for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway was a man by the name of Park Taliaferro Andrews who is almost always referred to as "P.T. Andrews," a civil engineer from New York. This article, published February 7, 1909 in the Indianapolis News indicates that Andrews was established in Indianapolis and ready to commence construction on the Speedway the following day - Monday, February 8.
