This article originally appeared in the January 16, 1910 Indianapolis Star and focused on the activities of the Indianapolis auto industry and motorsport leadership. This is a brief article but covers a lot of ground. It focuses on the positive news coming out of the New York Auto Show as Indianapolis-based interests lobbied the American Automobile Association (AAA) and other influencers to host events at the Hoosier capital city. Some of the developments listed include:
- The Indianapolis Motor Speedway secured more AAA-sanctioned race meets than any other venue.
- H.O. Smith, president of the Premier Motor Manufacturing Company as well as the American Motor Car Manufacturer's Association that was destined for dissolution within weeks, worked to advance the cause of endurance trials such as the Glidden Trophy.
- Indianapolis cars made a great showing in New York.
- Apparently racing people in the Hoosier captial - although unnamed in the article - played big roles in setting the new AAA rule book and the landmark national racing circuit.
- Speedway President Carl Fisher was rumored to be buying a new Benz or Fiat but I have no knowledge of this ever happening.
- Speedway management announced their initial race meet on the newly paved Brickyard would be part of the AAA national circuit.
- W.H. Wellman was announced as the promoter for AAA race meets in 10 of the largest cities in America.
