In a recent post by Indianapolis Star motor sports editor Curt Cavin he implied that while Roger Penske's IndyCar team had lost Phillip-Morris (Marlboro) sponsorship, he was still financially supported by Altria, the holding company of Phillip-Morris and other companies. Okay, I'll bite...why?

I was doing some research on Peugeot racing history recently and came across this video on their Web site. It is of a Peugeot scaling Pikes Peak in Colorado. The hill climb event ranks up there with the Indianapolis 500 as one of the oldest continually running motor sports competitions in the world.

Here are two great finds flagged by Bill Blaylock of the Yahoo Auto Racing History Group. Both are programs to 1950's auto racing programs. One is the 1953 program for the Hoosier Hundred dirt car race (the photos at the Hoosier Hundred link are from 1968).

Lola is the latest competition car design firm to submit a proposal to become the sole chassis supplier to the Indy Racing League. The car looks fine, but I think the current car looks fine as well. I think one of the unreasonable expectations that people harbor is that somehow the next generation car is going to look so cool that fans pack the grandstands to get a glimpse.
