I was always a huge Jimmy Clark fan and it was never better than when he won 1965 Indianapolis 500. Check out this update on his marvelous Lotus 38 winner, which carried the number "82."

I came across a stunning archive of photos from the Brooklands race track in England. The track opened in 1907, the brainchild of Sir Hugh Fortescue Locke-King and survived until 1939 when World War II forced its closing. If you enjoy historic auto racing photos, you will love this collection.

I came across an interesting Web site on the old Elgin Road Races. Worth a look, these were classic road races boasting great names on its list of winners, including Ralph De Palma and Ralph Mulford. Check it out.

If you haven't checked out our newest photo gallery, take a look at the collection provided to First Super Speedway by Netherlands auto racing enthusiast Jeroen de Boer. Jeroen has followed Formula One for 30 years and has amassed an impressive collection of photos of early auto racing. I will be dividing these into distinct collections ranging from 1910 through 1919. Great stuff.

I crossed paths with Darren Galpin, a dedicated historian of motor sport several years ago on the Web. Darren has made a tremendous contribution to the collective body of knowledge about pre-World War I auto racing history by assembling a unique, free on-line book about auto racing prior to World War I. If you are interested in this period of auto racing history, this is content you will want explore and bookmark for future reference.

Motor sports journalist Gordon Kirby published the second half of his Delta Wing analysis and while it gets to the concept of open source technology by using the Linux analogy I suggested, it still comes off as vague. Too much of the article is spent reinforcing the message that Indiana suppliers would be employed and the machine could be built in Indiana.

Auto racing afficionado Tom Madine recently flagged Popular Science's 137 year archive. Naturally, the first search must for "Indianapolis 500." Good content here - check it out. I recommend searches for Barney Oldfield, Duesenberg, Offenhauser, Vanderbilt Cup - you get the idea. You will harvest some great stuff.
