The Velie Entry - 1909

This image is one of four submitted by Steve Opperman. It is of the Velie entry for the first auto races at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in August 1909. His grandfather was Oscar Opperman. What follows is a quote from Steve.

"I believe that Stickney was the driver for car # 49. That's the picture I have with Oscar J. Opperman as the riding mechanic. That's my grandfather sitting in the pits. Caption under the pic of car #49 says Stickney and Oscar. The picture with car # 35 says Bob Burman in the pits. The pic at "speed" says Casey & Oscar going 1 mile in 45 sec!"

There's more content about the Velie entry elsewhere on First Super Speedway.
