Image of The Week
This dramatic image of Indianapolis 500 veteran Teddy Tetzlaff racing his FIAT in Santa Monica circa 1912 was submitted by Joseph DeGasperis. Tetzlaff, born in Los Angeles in 1883, was known for his ten-tenths style of constant, flat-out, driving. He competed in the first four Indianapolis 500s, with a best finish of second in 1912.
I stumbled across this link - some neat photos of Teddy Tetzlaff and Bert Dingley. Excellent resolution. Teddy is also featured in this silent film. Tetzlaff transitioned into motion picture production, an industry located in his hometown. His son, Ted Tetzlaff, became an acclaimed cinematographer.
