Image of The Week
The original source reports this is a photo of the Mercer team's Garage at the 1914 American Grand Prize held in Santa Monica. The Mercer team brought drivers Eddie Pullen, Barney Oldfield, Spencer Wishart and Huntley Gordon to the race. Pullen won in a runaway, while Gordon finished sixth and Oldfield was credited with seventh despite not completing the race due to a faulty water pump. Wishart's race ended early with an engine bearing failure.
Interesting to note that Huntley Gordon is the grandfather of NASCAR and Indianapolis 500 veteran driver Robby Gordon.
