Image of The Week
This image appeared in the January 30, 1910 Indianapolis Star. Pictured is Ray Harroun at the wheel of a Marmon racer entered to compete in the April Playa Del Rey races. This was the inaugural event for the new board track. Marmon was one of the premier automobile manufacturers located in Indianapolis.
For extensive coverage of the Playa Del Rey races check out these articles elsewhere on First Super Speedway:
The cutline that appeared with the image read as follows:
"The Marmon Automobile Company of this city opens its racing season at Los Angeles, where two cars were shipped last week. Ray Harroun of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Vanderbilt fame will drive on the circular board track. Harry Stillman may also drive."
