This photo is of David Bruce-Brown and his riding mechanic Tony Scudelari on the Fiat S74 in Savannah, Georgia for the American Grand Prize Gold Cup auto race. Bruce-Brown was the defending champion of this event, having won in 1910 driving a Benz. These were the two major victories for the talented youngster, who would perish while practicing for the same race a year later in Milwaukee. He was 25 years old when he was killed.
