Arthur Greiner

Arthur Greiner was the replacement driver for Joe Horan in the #44 Amplex after the latter broke his leg in practice the week prior to the first Indianapolis 500. Greiner was involved in the race's only fatal accident when he lost control of his racer on lap 12 and hit the wood fence lining the backstretch, killing his riding mechanic Sam Dickson.
