Rendering of the Old Brickyard

This photo provides a glimpse of the the scale model rendering of the planned set for the feature-length motion picture about the first Indianapolis 500. As you can see, plans call for a full scale model of a portion of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (much of the home stretch and the southwest - or first - turn, as well as the subsequent short chute) to be constructed. After the filming of the movie the plan also calls for the set to remain in place as a tourist attraction for years to come. The original "Brickyard" required 3.2 million bricks to complete paving the running surface. This rendering appeared at Carmel, Indiana's second annual "Artomobilia" art show in May 2009. In the background is a scale model of the winning car of the first Indianapolis 500, the Marmon Wasp.
