This is David Story's second rendering of 1931 Indianapolis 500 winner Louis Schneider. You can find his first piece on Schneider elsewhere on First Super Speedway. The race produced one of the strangest and most tragic stories of "500" lore. When race leader Billy Arnold crashed into the turn four wall, one of his wheels bounced some distance to the front yard of 11-year-old Wilbur Brink's home. The boy was playing at the time the wheel slammed into him and crushed the life out of his body.
Schneider is one of only two drivers born in Indianapolis who won the "500." The other was "Wild" Bill Cummings in 1934.
