May 10, 1917 Grand Opening Universal Trophy Auto Derby. In the center of the photograph is Barney Oldfield standing sideways with neck scarf, his new Golden Submarine, center. Louis and Gaston Chevrolet are the third and fourth men in the back row to Oldfield's right. They are sporting thick mustaches. At least one of the Duesenberg brothers are behind them. Smiling Ralph Mulford is waving and grinning in white coveralls to the left of the group in white. Billy Taylor's car #5 is shown. He was the Universal Films Trophy winner this day, but died in WWI soon after. Louis Chevrolet's #8 is on the right.
