The June 5, 1909 national championship balloon race hosted by the Indianapolis Motor Speedway had a field packed with talented competitors. This image is of A.H. Morgan the pilot of the Cleveland balloon. Morgan was reportedly a millionaire from Mound City, Kansas. His assistant was J.H. Wade, Jr. This image appeared in the June 4, 1909 Indianapolis Star with photos of other pilots and their assistants:
