Apperson Enters Briarcliff

With the ups and downs of the Vanderbilt Cup International Road Race, other regions of the country developed an interest in developing large road races of their own - all with the hope of an economic boon to their communities. Among them was Briarcliff, New York which in 1908 staged a rough and tumble event featuring the top American drivers using a mix of domestic and foreign marques in competition. The event was eventually won by Lewis Strang, who was the standout driver of the year.
