I have not read this book (Silent Thunder), but for anyone who enjoyed "Gold and Glory," I suspect this would be worth a look. The mostly ignored history of African-Americans in motor sport is important to understand on several levels from the pure love of sport to the civil rights struggle that has defined America in many ways.

My boyhood hero, Jimmy Clark, is featured in a wonderful BBC documentary. This is part one of six installments. You can find all of them on good old YouTube.

I came across a nice archive of Indy 500 articles: the Sports Illustrated vault. Guaranteed hours of enjoyable reading.

One of the great things about the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is that if you interviewed drivers from 80, 90, 100 years ago, they likely would have said the same thing. I love Tony Kanaan's quote, "The track picks the winner."
