Another gem from the Yahoo Auto Racing History Group is this collection of images and one of the greatest underappreciated drivers of all time, 1924 Indianapolis 500 winner Joe Boyer. Special thanks to an excllent auto racing historian, Tony De Seta, for pulling this content together!
As you will note from the Wikipedia link, little is written about this daring driver. Boyer was a crowd favorite because he drove with abandon. Independently wealthy, Boyer drove to fulfill a passion. His Indy 500 was shared with Lora Corum, who, with Floyd Davis shares the dubious distinction having "won" the Indianapolis 500 without ever leading a lap at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway throughout his career.
