An Early Test For The Automobile

12/01/2012

The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake is a legendary disaster that provided a major test - and opportunity - for the automobile to prove it's usefulness to society. Imagine the wonder over the power of 30, 40, 50 horses or more in a world that had previously thought of what a single horse could do. While teams of horses or mules stilled played crucial roles, the cars and trucks demonstrated their ability to consolidate horsepower into a compact vehicle that haul debris, dislodge great masses and transport the wounded. A landmark event for the automobile.
