Donald Davidson today marked the 100th anniversary of the first woman to lap the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Check out the article behind his research. The woman was Betty Blythe, a woman newspaper reporter for the Indianapolis Star. Davidson also mentions another reporter, Roland Mellett, who also took a ride around the Speedway in June while it was under construction. Bob Burman drove Blythe and Louis Chevrolet drove Mellett. Both were Buick drivers.
